Blake Day returned to Aberdeen in fall 2021 to accept the position of senior vice president for the Northern State University Foundation, where he leads the Foundation’s development efforts under the direction of the president/CEO.
He works closely with the director of athletics and Deans of Northern's College of Arts and Sciences, Millicent Atkins School of Education, School of Business and School of Fine Arts. He also manages principal and leadership level fundraising activities to raise private support and provide leadership for the Foundation.
Day comes to Northern from South Dakota State University, where he had been associate athletic director for development since 2017. Before then, he was assistant athletic director of development at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He also had worked for three years as Northern's director of athletic development and marketing and assistant athletic director for development and marketing.
Day opened his career as a marketing graduate assistant at South Dakota State University, where he was involved with game day operations at Jackrabbit athletic events, including game scripts, game-day promotions, and sponsor presentations. He performed the same duties for various Summit League events, including the men's and women's basketball tournaments from 2010 to 2012.
A native of Winner, S.D., Day received a bachelor's degree in business economics from SDSU in 2009 and master's degree in sport administration from SDSU in 2011.
